DOHA: Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced a traffic diversion at Msheireb zone near Souq Waqif effective from today.
The diversion is in order to start the reconstruction and upgrade works of Rayyan Street and Jassim bin Mohamed Street.
Traffic will be diverted partly by closing Rayyan Road heading eastbound from Al Diwan Street up to Rayyan Road – Souq Intersection, reaching up to Asmakh Street and traffic on this route will be diverted to southward (Al Diwan Street).
Commuters who need to take a turn eastward on Msheireb Street toward Souq Waqif and Grand Masjid should proceed northbound on Jassim bin Mohamed Street. Traffic along Rayyan Road will be limited to one-way westbound and those who need to go through Rayyan Road should access it through Jassim Mohamed Street.
Similarly, a stretch of Jassim Bin Mohammed Street northbound toward Corniche Street will be closed between Rayyan Road – Souq Intersection and southbound between Rayyan Road Intersection and Msheireb Street Roundabout.
Traffic movement on Jassim bin Mohamed Street shall be restricted to one-way traffic northbound from Msheireb Street Roundabout, with provision to head eastward toward Souq and westbound toward Rayyan road. The Peninsula
