ISLAMABAD: After sweet homes for the orphan, Pakistan Baitul Mal now plans to establish “great” homes for the care of 60-year-olds and above.
Necessary preparations in this regard are in the final stages and first home will start functioning in Lahore by the end of this month.
This will be the first project by a government for the welfare of old people.
The elderly are asset for any country. It is highly important that such aged people are properly looked after and protected in order to enable them live an honourable life, said the PBM Managing Director Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh. The great homes project is the need of the hour, he said.
Under this plan, the elderly, who have no residence and none is there to look after them or who cannot stay with their families due to any reasons, will be provided accommodation in these homes.
