DOHA: The Union of GCC Entrepreneurs launched its strategic plan at a recent workshop in Doha. The workshop was hosted by Silatech, a board member and chair of the union’s strategy committee.
The strategy was announced in the presence of the union Chairman, Dr Abdulaziz Al Mutairi, and board members. It represents the union’s road map, vision and mission to be realised over the coming years. The union also launched eight committees to achieving its strategy and goals.
Dr Al Mutairi, said, “The union will have a vital impact on supporting young entrepreneurs in Gulf states through communication and by ensuring that their voices are heard by leaders.”
He stressed the important role entrepreneurs play in driving the economy and creating jobs in the GCC.
Silatech CEO and the union’s Strategy Committee Chairman, Dr Tarik M Yousef, reiterated the important role played by the workshop in developing the building blocks for the launch of the union, and strengthening its position as the main platform for supporting young entrepreneurs.
The union was launched in conjunction with the Global Entrepreneurship award ceremony, in the presence of the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Centennial Fund, Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah.
The union’s board is represented by 10 GCC member organisations — Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (the UAE); Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises (the UAE); Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (Bahrain); The Business and Professional Women’s Club (Bahrain); Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society; Sharaka (Oman); Arab Businesswomen’s Council and Shiraa for Project Management (Kuwait); The Centennial Fund (Saudi Arabia); Tasami Centre for Social Initiatives (Saudi Arabia); and Silatech (Qatar).
