Doha: Andrew C Stevens of Commercial Bank of Qatar was honoured for his enormous contribution to the growth of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters at the tournament’s Pro-Am Dinner held on Tuesday night at The St Regis Doha.
Andrew Stevens, now Advisor to the Board at Commercial Bank, was heavily involved with the long-standing European Tour event in his former role as Group Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank.
Hassan Al Nuaimi, President of the Qatar Golf Association, Keith Waters, Chief Operating Officer of the European Tour and Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi, Chief Executive of Commercial Bank, each presented Stevens with gifts including an Arabic sword, a traditional Qatari gift, and an original painting of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Club House, hospitality pavilion and 18th green at the Doha Golf Club by Graeme Baxter, the official artist of the PGA and Ryder Cup committees.
Al Nuaimi said: “Andrew Stevens was a key part of the growth of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in his role at Commercial Bank and it is only right that he is recognised and honoured for his contribution to this amazing tournament, which has become one of the Middle East’s major sporting events due to Commercial Bank’s continued support. And now with (Abdulla Saleh) Al Raisi driving forward Commercial Bank’s sponsorship, I have no doubt that our partnership will continue to go from strength to strength.”
Al Raisi added: “Andy has made an enormous contribution to the successful growth of the tournament over the past decade and there is no doubt that it would not have become the world-class event it is today without his support and commitment,” he said.
