Baghdad: Iraqi forces Wednesday said they killed 20 Islamic State members while advancing towards the Mosul International Airport.

The militants were killed and their vehicles and munitions destroyed during an operation in the past few hours, media reports quoted a military official at the Nineveh operations command as saying.

The operation involved air and artillery strikes, he added.
