Children at the new music studio
DOHA: Qatar Academy Senior School recently unveiled its sophisticated Music Production Studio located in the performing arts wing of the school.
Music teacher William Ball, who will serve as the executive producer of the facility, said: “A music production studio of this calibre for high school students may be a first in the country.
“Students in grades 9 and 10 will have access to some of the most advanced equipment available today for recording, mixing and editing music.”
“The brand new iMacs are solely dedicated for music production and students will have access to and use software such as ProTools and Logic to mix,” Ball said.
The classes will be part of a new two year course in Music Production which will be included in the school curriculum beginning next school year.
The studio’s soft opening was introduced to a group of grade 10 students with a special guest lecturer, Dan Pardy, who helped introduce the class to the many formats of editing software.
When the full Music Studio is complete in September, the suite will have a total of four rooms: one main teaching space for editing and general classroom use, a control room for post-production and recording of ‘scratch’ tracks for bands, and two isolation rooms for laying down vocals, guitar solos and other individual tracks.
All four rooms in the suite will be soundproof and will contain all the tools young artists need to learn about the music industry.
