Doha: Qatar Stars League leaders Lekhwiya, second-placed Al Sadd and El Jaish all registered big wins in Round 23 matches here yesterday.
At Al Arabi Stadium, defending champions Lekhwiya bounced back from a first minute goal to trounce Al Arabi 3-1.
Al Arabi went into the lead in the very first minute through Sergio Dutra Junior.
Lekhwiya bounced back to net the equaliser in the 36th minute through Taehee Nam and there after struck two more goals in the second half. Ismail Mohamad gave the lead in the 53rd while Khalid Muftah put the issue beyond doubt with a strike five minutes from end. Lekhwiya now have 55 points.
At Al Khor Stadium, a brace from Luiz Silva (52 and 68) and goals from Talal Ali Albloushi (42), Yusef Ahmed Ali (49) and Mashaal Qassim helped Al Sadd to a 5-1 win over Al Khor.
Al Khor pulled one back in the 80th minute through Julio cesar Donacimento. Al Sadd now has 48 points from 23 matches while third placed Qatar SC is on 40 points. El Jaish, which trounced Al Shahaniya 3-1 are in fourth spot with 39 points.
