Curtains come down on ISF Convention

DOHA: The International School Sport Federation (ISF) Convention concluded at the Doha Marriott Hotel yesterday. 
The convention witnessed the participation 83 officials representing 51 nations.
On the final day of the convention, the ISF held its executive committee meeting, which was opened by Rabea Al Kaabi, President of the Qatar School Sport Association (QSA). 
The meeting was attended by the ISF President Laurent Petrynka, QSA Secretary General Ali Al Hitmi and QSA Executive Director Abdulrahman Al Moftah, who was recently elected as member of the ISF Executive Committee. 
The QSA President gave a speech where he welcomed the members of the ISF Executive committee. 
In his speech, Al Kaabi focused on the importance of cooperation between the ISF members, which would lead to further development of school sport around the world. 
ISF President Laurent Petrynka appreciated to the Qatar Olympic Committee’s (QOC) move to extend support to school sports in Qatar, and lauded the faithful efforts of QSA officials and their organisational abilities — which were especially highlighted at the world school tennis championship in Doha recently. 
The ISF Budget, future tournaments and other issues were discussed at yesterday’s meeting where ISF Executive Committee members lauded the exceptional edition of the ISF World Schools Tennis Championship held in Qatar. 
Abdulrahman Al Moftah, Member of the ISF Executive Committee, said the ISF Executive Committee called on the State of Qatar to play a positive role in hosting upcoming international tournaments.
Al Moftah stressed that the ISF Executive Committee discussed the ISF Budget and agreed on the importance of looking for sponsors to increase the ISF revenues. 
The QSA Executive Director added that the ISF Executive Committee members lauded the agreement signed between the ISF and the Qatar Olympic Academy to develop schools sports in the state of Qatar and the world. 
Al Moftah said that the recommendations, surrounding various themes in relation to world school sport development, were set to be adopted at the ISF General Assembly in July 2016.
