JEM thanks Emir

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed Abdullah Al Mahmoud with JEM leader Mohammed Beshar Ahmed and JEM’s second in command Arku Suleiman Dhahiya in Doha, yesterday.

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani received a message from the leader of Darfur’s Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) Mohammed Beshar Ahmed in which he expressed thanks, appreciation and gratitude for the Emir’s kind support toward the Darfur peace process.

The message pointed to the achievements, mainly the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur and the peace agreement signed between the Sudanese government and JEM on the basis of the document in addition to hosting the Donors Conference for Darfur reconstruction and the removal of war effects. 

The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received a similar message from JEM leader expressing  gratitude, for the Heir Apparent’s efforts for peace, stability and development of Darfur and for organising the international donors conference for reconstruction and development in Darfur.

The messages were received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed Abdullah Al Mahmoud during a  meeting with JEM leader Mohammed Beshar Ahmed, who expressed JEM’s appreciation for Qatar’s major role in finalising a comprehensive peace agreement between JEM and Sudan’s Government, on the basis of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.

At the end of the meeting Mohammed Bashed presented a certificate of appreciation from JEM to Ahmed Abdullah Al Mahmoud, for his key role and great efforts for achieving peace in Darfur. 

The meeting was attended by JEM’s second in command Arku Suleiman Dhahiya and a number of officials in the Cabinet General Secretariat.
