Qatari photographer Moudhi Al Hajri explains her works ‘My Journeys Through Yemen’, exhibited at Building 22 at Katara.

DOHA: Compelling photos by Qatari photographer Moudhi Al Hajri are being showcased at ‘My Journeys Through Yemen’ exhibition which recently opened at Katara.

The exhibition which runs until May 25 at Building 22 shares Moudhi’s six years involvement with Yemen.

The works exhibited portray her journey through Yemen from 2007 to 2013, featuring the magnitude of the photographer’s dedication through the breathtaking scope and extension of the work exhibited, both conceptually and geographically.

This month also saw thousands of arts and culture fans flocking to Katara to enjoy a range of events being held at the Cultural Village such as the weekend’s Spring Outdoor Art Fair and Bruckner’s fifth symphony at the Opera House amongst many other breathtaking events.

This week will also see a Sotheby’s auction evening focusing on contemporary Art in Doha in addition to a performance by renowned Elgar’s Engima Variations on April 26.

General Manager of Katara, Dr Khalid Al Sulaiti, said: “April has proven to be yet another exciting month and we urge people to make the most of Katara’s rich events calendar. The African Festival and the Spring Outdoor Art Fair have been a huge success and we hope to see more people attending our upcoming events, exhibitions and musical performances. All the events and platforms we are bringing have one objective in common and that is to stimulate talent and maximise the opportunities across various arts and music platforms.

The Art fair encouraged artists to participate applying for their own exhibition booths and taking advantage of this opportunity to exhibit and sell new works. It presented artists with a platform to present their works to the public and interact with potential art buyers and collectors in Qatar. It is one of Katara’s efforts to create and support a sustainable and dynamic art market in Qatar.

With additional events in the pipeline, Katara, the Cultural Village, celebrated a number of events earlier this month including the “City” exhibition by Faraj Daham and Mohamed Abouelnaga which will run until May 11. The Peninsula
