Scottish minister hails Katara

DOHA: Hamza Yusuf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development of the Scottish government, recently visited Katara.

Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara, said such visits strengthen cultural relations between the peoples, especially since Scotland possesses an ancient cultural tradition which deserves appreciation by organising activities and events that introduce this legacy to the public and visitors in the a cultural space created to serve the culture and intellectuals.

Yusuf said Katara is a great accomplishment as it provides a common ground between creators and intellectuals, national and international. He lauded the country’s achievements in political, economic, cultural and sports areas. The Scottish Minister expressed his admiration for the idea of a cultural institution, praising its effective role in providing the necessary tools in the dissemination of local and international cultures, which helps achieve cultural exchange and openness.

He also pointed out the existence of a number of cultural links between Scotland and Qatar, wishing to further strengthen it in the coming period through cultural exchange between the two countries.
