BOGOTA: An agent of the US Drug Enforcement Administration was stabbed to death yesterday in Bogota while fighting off an apparent kidnapping attempt, Colombian police and the US embassy said. The man’s identity was not immediately revealed.
He had dined on Thursday night in a posh area here and in the early hours yesterdaycaught a taxi in which he was apparently abducted. The man put up a fight and was stabbed five times, then dumped out of the car. He later died in a hospital. Colombian authorities have offered a reward equivalent to $26,000 for information leading to the identification of whoever was responsible for the agent’s death. AFP
