French president arrives today

Doha: French President Francois Hollande will arrive today in Doha on a two-day visit, leading a high-ranking official delegation.

The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will hold talks with the French president. 

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ambassador to France Mohamed Jaham Al Kuwari told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the president’s visit to Qatar comes at “an important time”. Al Kuwari described bilateral relations as “strategic,” implying close links, deep friendship and strong cooperation.

He underlined important French investments in Qatar, referring to the world-class French construction and infrastructure firms, which contribute to the completion of infrastructure projects, especially those related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He also stressed arts and cultural cooperation between the two countries, especially that the Qatar has become an associate member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
