Doha, Qatar: Qatar Foundation and QNB Group have signed an agreement that will see one of Qatar’s most iconic sporting venues renamed the QNB Education City Stadium.

Located at the heart of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Education City, the stadium will carry the name under a five-year agreement between the two organizations, signed at a ceremony at the stadium and witnessed by Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani and Group CEO, QNB Group, Abdulla Mubarak Al-Khalifa.

Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani; Group CEO, QNB Group, Abdulla Mubarak Al-Khalifa; Group Chief Risk Officer, QNB Group, Fatima Abdulla Al-Suwaidi; and Executive Director, Women’s and Girls’ Sports, QF, Alanoud Al Mesnad at the agreement signing event.

The strategic partnership between the organizations reflects their shared commitment to the advancement of sport in Qatar, and its importance to the nation’s development goals. Since hosting matches during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the stadium has evolved into a vibrant hub for sport, community engagement, and initiatives that empower women and girls, reflecting the lasting impact of its post-World Cup legacy.

Executive Director, Women’s and Girls’ Sports, QF, Alanoud Al Mesnad who signed the agreement on behalf of QF, said, “This agreement is a symbol of the dedication of two Qatari institutions to supporting and increasing opportunities for women and girls to embrace, participate and excel in, and benefit from sport in settings that are tailored specifically to their needs.

“The stadium is such a setting, with its role as a hub of women’s and girls’ sport and a place for community interaction illustrating how this is a venue with an enduring legacy that stretches beyond the top-class sporting events it continues to host.

“We are proud that it will now bear the name of the QNB Education City Stadium, and to be partnering with QNB Group, an internationally recognized organization rooted in contributing to the development of Qatar and its people. We look forward to this agreement supporting the future of this incredible stadium as a place of sporting excellence, inclusivity, and inspiration.”

Group Chief Risk Officer, QNB Group, Fatima Abdulla Al-Suwaidi who signed the agreement on QNB Group’s behalf, said, “At QNB, we believe that meaningful progress is built through long-term partnerships that create lasting value for communities and future generations.

“Our partnership with Qatar Foundation reflects a shared commitment to supporting education, youth development and national progress, while contributing to the ambitions of Qatar National Vision 2030. Education City Stadium has become an important symbol of opportunity, achievement and community engagement, and we are proud to support a landmark institution that continues to inspire and empower people across Qatar.”

While remaining a venue for national and international sporting events, the stadium is also home to community sport events and programmes — including Paris Saint-Germain Academy programmes, and QF’s regular Ladies Sport Night events that empower women and girls across the nation to discover new sports, stay active, and embrace healthy lifestyles – and plays a central role in QF’s annual National Sport Day activities.
