DOHA: The Eid Festival 2013 comprises a full range of activities including sports, culture and entertainment, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), which is in the final stages of preparations, said yesterday.
The festival, which caters to all ages, will open on the first day of Eid Al Fitr and run for 10 days in shopping centres, Doha Exhibition Center (DEC), Souq Waqif, Katara and other locations outside Doha.
QTA will resume its promotional campaign that debuted last month, targeting neighbouring countries. “We look forward with great excitement to welcoming citizens, residents and tourists to enjoy the festival programme prepared by QTA and regulated institutions and sponsors across the country,” said QTA Chairman Engineer Issa Mohammed Al Mohannadi. “Qatar will be the destination of choice for families during the festival. Activities will last 10 days in shopping centres and more than 35 days in the Doha Exhibition Center, including artistic performances and cultural and recreational activities.”
Free shows will be held in City Center, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona, Hyatt Plaza, Landmark and Villaggio for 10 days at different time between 1pm and 10pm. QTA will also host activities, games and entertainment at the DEC from the first day of Eid until September 15. Visitors can pick up free gifts and win instant prizes, enjoy dining in a private hall and buy at a wide range of stores toys and gifts and household items.
