DOHA: Reach Out To Asia (Rota) organised a special community iftar event for the Qatar Foundation for Elderly Care.
A long-established community partner, the Qatar Foundation for Elderly Care has been hosting iftars as a part of Rota’s volunteer-led annual Ramadan Project for years in a mutually beneficial and enjoyable event.
Rota volunteers actively participated in the event as the elderly tasted a sumptuous spread of delicacies, in the presence of Rota Board Member Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani.
Rota Executive Director Essa Al Mannai said: “Rota is committed to building partnerships with Qatar’s community-based organisations,
“The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time to reflect on solidarity and foster camaraderie and community iftar is our way of caring and sharing with others.
“It is a pleasure to fulfil our commitment to reach out to as many people as possible during Ramadan, especially the elderly patients who need our utmost care and attention.
“Serving our community in Qatar has been and will always be a prime objective of Rota,” Al Mannai said.
Community iftar events are a key part of Rota’s Ramadan 2013 Project, sponsored by Oxy Qatar, which includes distribution of grocery to disadvantaged families, homes renovations for needy families and sharing the joy of Garangaou night with children with medical conditions.
“Community-based organisations make an enormous impact on the lives of the people they work with, and strengthen the community,” added Al Mannai.
“Their programmes provide opportunities to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to the support they need.
“Rota is proud to recognise the contribution they make to society and show our support for the work they do.”
