DOHA: Two hundred books on astronomy collected from libraries in Qatar and other countries are among the highlights of the Galaxies Exhibition which recently opened at Katara Building 22.
Curators said acquiring the books and assembling them in one gallery was a complex process.
The books for adults and young children are in Arabic and English.
One of the features of Katara’s Ramadan Festival, the expo showcases latest pictures of the Milky Way and other galaxies as well as phenomena in astronomy and space, giving visitors an idea how vast and strange the universe is. It reveals the need for further research and exploration despite scientific discoveries.
The expo also takes visitors to the world of planets and galaxies to contemplate the beauty of universe which cannot be seen by the naked eye.
Visually appealing images from the Hubble space telescope provide visitors to see galaxies in natural colours, with accuracy.
A big screen shows a documentary on astronomy and highlights cosmic explosions, meteors, the sun and other occurrences mentioned in Holy Quran and translated in English.
