Recently a young leadership was handed the reins of power by the Father Emir in full belief that power was being given to those capable of taking on the responsibility, guiding the country’s progress, and defending the country against any aggressor. The new leadership was educated and trained for years to be a worthy successor to the best predecessor.
The beloved Father Emir realised the importance of handing over the affairs of the state to the youth and giving them the chance to prove their mettle, especially in the delicate tasks related to the future of the country.
He started with the Cabinet, which includes active and intelligent young figures who hold top certificates and have years of experience in the fields of their specialisation. This knowledge and experience enables them to foresee the future and make sense of data about the country.
It is time for the youth in our country to lead the way to the aspired for renaissance. Yes, Qatar is a young country with lots of competent young people who have enough experience and awareness to run many institutions.
Young Qatari officials have proved themselves worthy of the tasks assigned to them, and you can see them striving vigorously, with love of work and awareness of the need to serve this country.
This is the time for young people, especially those who have graduated from local or foreign universities, to get jobs suitable to their specialisation. These people should receive proper training from their predecessors in their jobs so that they are conversant with all the relevant details.
After that they can be tested before they are put in leadership positions so that they can take decisions and put the knowledge they have into practice.
There is no doubt that these graduates have knowledge that needs fields where it can be applied in public interest. True, they need more training and interaction among themselves and with their peers in neighbouring countries. This will help these young leaders broaden their experience and enrich their careers.
This, however, does not mean that we have to get rid of old hands who are serving the country with their expertise. Their expertise has created the base which underpins the work that needs to be carried forward.
These citizens need support, respect and appreciation for what they have been doing for the country all their lives. When the time comes for these officials to retire, they should feel properly rewarded for their efforts.
