UN voices deep concern over Ethiopia worsening security situation

United Nations: The United Nations on Monday expressed its deep concern at the worsening security situation and recent developments in Ethiopia, including the formation of a new coalition of armed groups and reports of continued insecurity and drone strikes.

"At a time of heightened tensions, we urge all stakeholders to refrain from actions or rhetoric that could further escalate the situation. We also urge them to recommit to dialogue. Military action will not resolve political differences or address underlying grievances," Stephane Dujarric, chief spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters at a news briefing.

The United Nations continues to support the African Union-led efforts to reduce tensions and advance the implementation of the Pretoria Agreement, Dujarric said.
