DOHA: A public lecture on sports analytics title 'Tracking the Action' to be held here October 30 will present findings on advanced analytical techniques and the use of machine learning to discover new information related to on-field performance.
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. John Guttag, Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and co-head of the Networks and Mobile Systems Group at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), Qatar Foundation (QF) Press Office said on behalf of Qatar Computing Research Institute Tuesday.
Dr. Guttag will discuss his work in big data, computer vision and techniques applicable to advanced sports analytics.
He will also explore the application of novel techniques that provide new ways of viewing sporting events.
The lecture is significant for sports fans in Qatar since professional sport is approximately a US $500 Billion industry that is increasingly data-driven in the pursuit of excellence.
The one-hour lecture will start at 4pm on Wednesday, October 30 and will be held on the 5th floor of Tornado Tower in West Bay, QF said. (QNA)
