DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) yesterday launched “My Qatar” public initiative, aimed to ask people living in Qatar the question, “What would you like to tell travellers about Qatar?”
This initiative, which runs until October 30, aims to involve citizens and residents of Qatar in the development of a destination brand campaign based on the best qualities and features of Qatar. The result of the campaign will help relay the country’s image to the world by choosing how Qatar should be presented to business and leisure travellers around the world.
To enter the campaign competition, participants need to answer three simple questions on QTA’s website (www.qatartourism.gov.qa/MyQatar). The competition will run for nine days only, closing at midnight on October 30. The winner will then be selected based on the answers received. One lucky contributor will win a luxury experience in Qatar and will be able to nominate four friends or family members to share the experience.
The prize will be a four-day luxury holiday in Qatar including a five-star accommodation for the winner along with friends. The activities included in the prize are a trip to the mangroves in northern Qatar and beach barbeque on day; a historical tour with a historian of the ancient rock formations, abandoned fishing village and Al Zubara Fort; an aerial tour of Qatar, along with a trip to the Inland Sea with lunch and dinner in the desert; and a personalised tour of active exhibitions across Qatar’s museums.
QTA’s Marketing Director, Rashed Al Qurese, said: “Through the My Qatar initiative we aim to engage people living in Qatar to help define the authentic identity of our country. This is a wonderful opportunity for us at QTA to listen to the ideas of people and build Qatar’s destination brand together.”
The competition is open to all nationals and expatriates here over the age of 18.
A destination brand embodies the hopes and aspirations of a tourist destination. It conveys to the interested traveller information and emotions about what they can expect to experience when visiting a destination.
