Doha, Qatar: Mexican chef Elena Reygadas (pictured) will bring her acclaimed Panadería Rosetta to Doha, for an exclusive residency at MIHAD Café, from November 4 until 15, offering audiences an immersive taste of contemporary Mexican food culture alongside the work of ceramic designer Perla Valtierra.

The collaboration forms part of the Qatar, Canada and Mexico 2026 Year of Culture, a year-long programme that brings people together through shared experiences across art, culture, heritage and contemporary creativity.

Years of Culture Advisor on Latin America Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari said, “Culture is part of our daily lives. Bringing Elena Reygadas’s culinary practice together with Perla Valtierra’s craftsmanship in Doha creates an opportunity for people in Qatar to discover Mexico through the knowledge, traditions and personal stories behind their work. Cultural diplomacy begins with a willingness to understand how others live and what they value. Over time, these encounters build understanding and trust between people, creating a foundation for open dialogue.

Recognised as The World’s Best Female Chef in 2023 by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Reygadas is the chef-owner of Rosetta, the Michelin-starred Mexico City restaurant celebrated for its unique approach to Mexican ingredients, traditions and culinary heritage. She is also the founder of Panadería Rosetta, a celebrated bakery in its own right, known for its breads and pastries and its expression of Mexico’s rich everyday food culture.

For its Doha residency, Panadería Rosetta will introduce a selection of its signature offerings to MIHAD Café, creating a setting where visitors can experience Reygadas’s approach to Mexican baking in an informal, social environment. Elena Reygadas, Chef and Founder, Panadería Rosetta said,  “In Mexico, bread belongs to daily life: it is shared at breakfast, at the end of the day, in celebrations and in mourning. In Doha, we hope to share some of the ingredients, traditions and rituals that inspire our work. Being part of the 2026 Year of Culture makes this an especially meaningful opportunity to exchange perspectives and discover the connections that can begin around a table.”

The culinary residency will be complemented by a presentation of ceramic works by Mexican designer Perla Valtierra.
