DOHA: The Traffic Department has launched a new survey to assess public satisfaction about its services and get people’s opinion about traffic safety.

The survey being carried out by the strategic planning division of the Department will cover three main segments involved in traffic safety - vehicles, drivers and the pedestrians, said a senior official.

“The survey comes as part of the National Strategic Plan that aims to reduce the number of accidents from 3,000 to 2,500 for each one million people in one year and reduce the number of mortalities from 13.5 to 10 for each 100,000 people,” the official was quoted as saying by a local Arabic daily. The survey aims to involve the communities to find the best ways for securing traffic safety, raise awareness and promote good attitudes as well as understand the reasons behind road accidents.

It is being carried out in collaboration with the National Committee for Traffic Safety and the Qatar Statistics Authority. The questionnaires are available in three languages - Arabic, English and Urdu.

The survey has been conducted through personal interviews and by sending the questionnaire electronically. The questionnaire is also available on the website of the Ministry of Interior for those who want to join the survey voluntarily. The Peninsula
