DOHA: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, accompanied by several ministers, yesterday visited the Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard in Ras Laffan Industrial City.
The delegation included the Deputy Prime Minister H E Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, the Minister of Development Planning and Statistics H E Saleh Mohammad Al Nabit and senior officials.
They attended a presentation by the Department of Industrial Development on the ministry’s activities and achievements.
It also outlined major indicators in the industry sector, mainly facilities, volume of industrial investments and contribution of the industry sector to local production.
The delegation was received by the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti, Managing Director, Nakilat, Abdulaziz Jassim Al Muftah, Director of Qatar Petroleum’s Industrial Cities and senior officials from QP and Nakilat. It was followed by a presentation by Al Sulaiti on latest activities of Nakilat and its shipyard joint ventures, ship repairer Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine (N-KOM) and shipbuilder Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar (NDSQ).
Both presentations were followed by question-and-answer sessions.
The Premier and his delegation toured facilities for more than an hour and were briefed on technical aspects of facilities and activities.
They also toured facilities for small ship repair and maintenance, the workshop for fabrication and other jobs related to repair and maintenance of large and medium ships, Dry Yard 1, which has facilities for making high-value small ships, including Coast Guards boats, ships, military cruisers and tug boats, renovation and maintenance facilities for luxury yachts, N-KOM’s dry yard, which can accommodate the world’s largest LNG carrier, the Q-Max, and NDSQ’s high-tech climate-controlled fit-out hall.
The Peninsula
