PPP awaits decision on joining provincial govt

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has not yet decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the party’s legislators say they are waiting for the final approval of the central leadership.

“We cannot take any decision. The central leadership will direct us whether or not to join the provincial government,” said Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha, PPP parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly.

He said the PTI had offered them to join the government as party, not as individuals, and they could not and would not join the government without getting approval from party leadership.

Mohammad Ali Bacha expressed concern over reports, saying these were published without verifying facts.

Being elected members, he added, they had to meet the chief minister and ministers for the solution to the problems being faced by the electorate, but it didn’t mean they were going to join the government.

PPP workers observed that party leaders had convened a meeting in Karachi on November 23 to discuss reorganisation of the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as joining the PTI-led government in the province.

But Mohammad Ali Bacha expressed ignorance about it, saying he would definitely attend the meeting if invited.

He said he had not received any invitation for the Karachi meeting.
