Ambassador of Qatar to Egypt H E Salem Mubarak Al Shafi and other dignitaries celebrating the World Cup kick-off as the Embassy established a special area for Qatar 2022 fans.
Doha: Several Qatari diplomatic missions abroad have organised a wide range of events to celebrate the kick-off of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Qatar’s embassy in Turkiye held an event to show the opening match of the World Cup between Qatar and Ecuador.
The event, which was attended by a large number of fans, hosted a number of unique and artistic performances.
The hours-long event saw heavy diplomatic presence from various Arab and Western diplomats, in addition to Turkish diplomats, prominent figures in society, and media personalities.
In Palestine, substantial numbers of fans and masses converged in the showrooms prepared by the Qatar Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza in Gaza strip and Ramallah to enable the Palestinian brothers to follow up the tournament, while hundreds of Palestinians gathered in Gaza and West Bank strips in celebration of the launch of the tournament in Qatar.
In Algeria, the Embassy of Qatar held a ceremony on the occasion of the World Cup opening. The ceremony was organised in Harcha Hassan Sport Hall designated by the Embassy throughout the whole period of the tournament as free “Fan Zone” for the segments of the entire Algerian community to follow up the tournament events.
In a statement on this occasion, Ambassador of Qatar to Algeria H E Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama discussed the relations between Qatar and Algeria, lauding the efforts made by Algeria to have a successful tournament.
In Bucharest, the Embassy of Qatar in Romania held a celebration on the occasion of opening the World Cup, with the attendance of a host of officials, athletes and members of the diplomatic corps in Romania amid an atmosphere of joy and pleasure in appreciation for the great feats accomplished by Qatar.
In Dar es Salaam, the Embassy of Qatar held a celebration on the opening of the World in the presence of a host of Their Excellencies heads and members of the diplomatic missions in Tanzania.
In Mexico City, the Embassy of Qatar prepared a festival on the occasion of the World Cup kick-off. It will continue throughout the tournament.
In N’Djamena, the Embassy of Qatar held a ceremony on the occasion of the kick-off of World Cup that included a live streaming of official opening ceremony of the tournament and the opening match with the attendance of a host of officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chadian government, heads and representatives of the Arab and foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Chad, along with the community figures.
In Asmara, Eritrea, the Embassy of Qatar held a promotional ceremony for the World Cup. The ceremony was attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs H E Osman Saleh Mohammed, Commissioner of Culture and Sports H E Zemede Tekle, and a host of Their Excellencies the ministers and officials in Eritrea, along with several of Their Excellencies heads and members of the diplomatic missions in Eritrea.
Addressing the ceremony, Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Qatar in Eritrea Khalifa bin Thani Al Zarraa said that hosting this tournament by Qatar is an exceptional event culminated in the efforts of 12 years of the persistent work from the time of the submission of Qatar’s bid to host the tournament.
