First heart transplant in Pakistan next year

ISLAMABAD: The first ever heart transplant in Pakistan will be carried out in Rawalpindi Institute for Cardiology (RIC) next year. It would be performed by Diana fame world’s renowned cardiologist FRCS surgeon Dr Hasnat Ahmad Khan.
It was revealed by Dr Hasnat Khan in his maiden media interaction in Rawalpindi yesterday. The chief executive and professor of cardiology Dr General Azhar Kayani and teams of doctors were also present.
Dr Kayani briefed the media about the facilities made available for the purpose. 
He revealed that gynecology centre is being set up in the RIC to undertake research for the cause of death in maternity due to the cardiac diseases which is not known in this part of the world.
Dr Hasnat Ahmad Khan who is a distant cousin of Imran Khan and currently consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Basil-don University Hospital Essex in east of England, announced to wind-up from England and shift to Pakistan for the ailing humanity.
He is heart and lungs surgeon and in the meanwhile imparting training to nurses and doctors who will subsequently become state of art experts in their respective departments.
