DOHA: Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation has launched a new edition of the ‘Promising Students Programme’ to attract more Qatari students.
Geared at grade ten students who attend independent schools, the programme aims to encourage the enrolment of the brightest young Qatari school students at universities within Education City.
The programme, which runs over the three-year high school period, provides participants with English language and testing preparation courses, as well as university counselling sessions.
“We support hundreds of very bright and talented students from independent schools every year to build their capabilities to fit the university requirements” says Aisha Al Meer, Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator at HBKU.
“We strongly encourage high achieving students to apply to the programme as we will provide lots of support for them in preparing for admission to our various partner universities.”
HBKU is now accepting applications for the programme. Eligible participants must be Qatari students of independent schools across the country with a class average of 80 percent and above, seeking admission to one of HBKU’s partner universities. Interested students need to fill in an application form that they can then submit to their school counsellor or to the HBKU Student Services department no later than December 30.
The application alone does not guarantee acceptance to the programme, as student selection is based on the school average and an interview. The Peninsula
