DOHA: Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMU-Q) and Woqod has collaborated to promote science and engineering to Qatar’s young students.
The university has recently recognised Woqod as a strong partner during an official visit to the Woqod headquarters.
The collaboration between the university and Woqod has previously focused on research and exchange of expertise, especially in the area of bitumen properties and modification.
Dr Mark H Weichold, dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar, presented Mohammed Turki Al Sobai, vice chairman and managing director of Woqod, a plaque in appreciation of the company’s support for the university’s academic and research programmes. Weichold spoke about the importance of Texas A&M at Qatar’s partnership with Woqod and discussed future research projects and joint programmes to promote science and engineering among young students in Qatar.
Texas A&M at Qatar Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Dr Eyad Masad, said, “We appreciate the productive collaboration with Woqod. They have generously shared their technical expertise with the University and provided materials and logistical support for research projects. We look forward to expanded future projects.”
Al Sobai said, “Woqod isdelighted to have had the support of Texas A&M at Qatar in helping us solve a challenging industrial application to extend the life of pavements and roads in Qatar. The University’s application and technical expertise clearly helped in adopting proven technologies by Woqod and its customers that will have great benefits for the country. We look forward to building upon this success and will look for further challenges University can help us with.”
