The corridors and offices of some state institutions are home to some negative practices by some civil servants and officials. This requires effective follow-up by the Cabinet and its committees.
Hatred and envy can be the most serious diseases of the heart. It is more like the pest that eats the green-eyed away before anyone else because of the worry and grief that afflict the envious and the despiteful because of his dissatisfaction with what God has provided.
Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Do not hate each other, do not disagree with each other, do not compete with one another and be servant of Allah and brothers.”
We wonder why some of us are busy envying each other. Why did not we consider reasons of success, sustenance and excellence? Why we stopped relying on Allah?
Do we apply what Allah said in the following verse in the Holy Quran: “Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment towards those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.”
(Surat Al-ashr 59:10).
Why do not we cooperate in our work at ministries and civil society institutions? Why we seek whims, self-love and selfishness in this mortal life and neglect our work?
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.”
Unfortunately, envy spreads inside the corridors of ministries and organisations. The ‘struggle for survival’ prevails instead of a culture of ‘cooperation for an integrated community’.
We now hate each other. We look how to legally oust someone’s colleagues and brothers in order for him and his retinues to stay in his ‘temporary’ position. However, this negatively affects the “big house”, which is society, and turns it from an integrated, interdependent and cooperative community to a weak and dismantled one with some wrong behaviours due to the negative spirit of some members.
We have to cooperate with each other, as believers are like a structure, each supporting the other, each standing by the other in hardship and ease, in weal and woe.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy and compassion for each other is that of a body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”
A whisper to the cabinet: When some people assigned at positions in a ministry or organisation get plagued with animosity, they start to think only about how to prove themselves, how to oust and exclude others, how to nitpick and take revenge for ‘nonsensical’ issues.
We want the Cabinet, its departments, committees and administration to follow up to remove negativities in all ministries and their departments and administration.
This will help preserve our national cadres, develop mechanisms to prevent injustice taking place in some authorities, enhance the positives and develop our human resources — with neutrality and fairness, away from the whims of some managers and ministers.
