DOHA: The Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) yesterday announced it will be the Diamond Sponsor for the upcoming ‘Made in Qatar 2020’ exhibition.
The expo, scheduled to be held from February 19-22, will be organised by the Qatar Chamber in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank as strategic partner and in coordination with the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry on an area of 10,000sqm at the Kuwait International Fair in Kuwait.
The third edition of ‘Made in Qatar’ to be held outside Qatar is expected to see the participation of over 220 companies and factories from Qatar.
Qatar Chamber’s Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi and QIMC’s CEO Abdul Rahman Abdulla Al Ansari signed the sponsorship agreement at the Chamber’s headquarters recently.
Commenting on the agreement signing, Al Ansari said: “QIMC is very keen to provide support for the exhibition whether held inside or outside the state”.
He added that the expo has succeeded in promoting local Qatari products abroad, noting that Kuwait is an important market for Qatari businessmen and manufacturers.
“The expo provides a significant opportunity for participants to enhance their cooperation ties and forge new partnerships,” he added.
For his part, Saleh Al Sharqi praised the role played by the company in developing the industry sector in the country, noting that the company’s sponsorship emphasised its interest in supporting the national industry, especially since the expo has become an ideal platform that brings together Qatari businessmen and manufacturers with their counterparts from various countries.
Al Sharqi pointed out that Qatari and Kuwaiti private sectors are very close, assuring that the expo would open the way for exhibiting companies to establish partnerships, transactions and alliances with Kuwaiti companies.
The four-day expo aims at fostering cooperation and exchanging expertise between Qatari and Kuwaiti companies, in addition to exposing the Kuwaiti business community to Qatari products and opening new markets for Qatari companies including the large and small industries.
QIMC was established in May 1990, and within a short period of time has become one of the pioneering companies in the field of small and medium scale industries in Qatar.
Currently, QIMC has equity interest in 20 projects in various industries sector including chemicals, petrochemicals, construction materials and food processing. QIMC is also currently investing the economic feasibility of several other projects in collaboration with other local and foreign interested parties.
