Iloilo City: After his trip to Davos in Switzerland last month, President Aquino hinted here yesterday he may also visit South Korea this year, but he has to attend to domestic problems first.
He made the disclosure in a speech at the provincial capitol here, where he inaugurated the P11.2bn Jalaur River Multi-Purpose II project. The project’s main international loan donor is a South Korean export-import bank.
Aquino said his South Korea trip will be rescheduled within six months.
“They treat us like their family or brother who should be given help, particularly because we helped them when they were the ones in need. Korea is really a true friend,” he said, noting that arrangements are already underway for his Seoul visit.
“I want to spend as much time as possible dealing with the problems within the country. So it has to be pared down to the most essential trips,” he said.
After the Holy Week in late March, Aquino will be off to Brunei to attend the 22nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
