DOHA: Hundreds of participants attended the Body2Mind Conference organised recently by 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum at the Museum of Islamic Art auditorium.
The two-day conference presented the philosophy, history and implementation of Olympic education programmes, and created a platform for participants to network and share experiences.
The participants learned more about local institutions that are actively promoting Olympic education in Qatar, such as the Qatar Olympic Academy, the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Supreme Education Council, and the Aspire Academy. The event was also supported by Qatar School Sports Federation, the Qatar Center for Voluntary Activities, as well as international organisations like the United Nations Office on Sport for Development & Peace, the International Olympic Academy, International Olympic Truce Center, and the International School Sports Federation. The goal of the Body2Mind Conference was to bring these worldwide and national federations and associations together in order to explore newer and more sustainable means of integrating the Olympics in educational programmes, and raising awareness of Olympic values in society.
“The Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum is investing in new Educational initiatives as a way to offer opportunities to the people of Qatar and abroad for complete and unforgettable educational experiences with interactive approaches,” said Dr Christian Wacker, Director of 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic & Sports Museum.
“This conference is a critical step in changing how we perceive sports educational programmes, and progressively developing them into long-term platforms for people of all ages, cultures, and skill sets to benefit from,” he added.
