MANILA: Authorities raided yesterday morning an alleged drug den, resulting to the death of a suspected drug pusher and wounding of two policemen in Basilan, local police said.
Elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency raided a house of the suspected drug pusher at La Piedad village in Isabela City, Basilan at around 6.25am local time, said Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesperson for the Western Mindanao Police Command based in Zamboanga City.
In the brief exchange of fires between the law enforcers and suspected drug dealers, a suspect identified as Abi Jaji was killed and two cops were hurt, while three others were arrested, Huesca said.
Injured dolphin gets treatment
ZAMBOANGA CITY: A badly injured adult dolphin was rescued by the fisher folks, police and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in the waters of Dumangguilas Bay, Zamboanga del Sur, according to an official.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the bottlenose dolphin was spotted drifting off the waters in the vicinity of sitio Asinan, Margos Thursday afternoon.
The elements of the Margos Municipal police led by Senior Inpsector Jonathan Presto Lladoc and BFAR technician with the fisher folks conducted rescue operation and brought the wounded sea mammal near the wharf for medical treatment.
German tourist kicked out
MANILA: The Bureau of Immigration has kicked a German tourist out of the country for disrespecting and offending two female immigrations officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 on Friday night.
According to the Philippine News Agency, BI based at the NAIA Terminal 2 said Ayyildiz Kenal, 49, was made to board Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR-398 for Peking, which departed at 8.55pm for showing rude behaviour as he stepped in the country early Friday night.
BI-NAIA reports said Kenal, a telecommunications firm executive based in Peking, China, arrived at around 6pm via PAL flight PR 359 with other German friends.
Kenal allegedly offended two uniformed female immigrations officers after exiting from the comfort room. Kenal was said to have grabbed the first female officer by the hand, and touched the butt of the other.
