New airport to have parking for 7,500 cars

Doha: Hamad International Airport is expected to open partially from the middle of this year and will have parking space for more than 7,500 vehicles. Clarifying about the story published in The Peninsula on February 10, 2014, that reported the problems faced by visitors at the double-deck parking facility at the Arrivals Terminal, Doha International Airport (DIA), said that the parking facility is temporary.
“As the international five-star gateway to Qatar and to the rest of the world, HIA’s state-of-the-art facilities will include more than 7,500 vehicle parking spaces in the terminal area,” said the Doha International Airport in a statement. “As announced by Civil Aviation Authority on January 15, 2014, Hamad International Airport (HIA) is on track for a phased opening by mid-2014,” it said.
The parking space at the airport would include short term parking for 3,400 vehicles, long term parking for 2,600 vehicles and 1,700 slots for employee parking.
About the double-deck parking facility at the Arrivals Terminal, Doha International Airport said that the parking facility at DIA, which can accommodate 650 vehicles, was built in record time and as a temporary solution, to enhance the parking capacity. Some passengers prefer an airy an open metal structure, while others prefer a concrtete 
structure.
