DOHA: Banks here have warned customers not to disclose online any information about their accounts, credit cards or automated teller machine (ATM) PIN numbers if they receive emails purported to have been sent by banks with such requests.
Banks said they are not sending any such mails to customers although they (mails) have their official logos. The mails provide links to an online application form that the customers are asked to fill.
The emails ask customers to fill the form as details are required to upgrade their personal data. “The emails are forged,” Al Sharq reported yesterday quoting banking industry sources.
Banks in Qatar upgrade personal data of customers only physically and in the bank premises by asking them to come over specifically for that purpose.
The banks said customers who fill such forms and provide their confidential bank account, credit card, ATM and other details will be responsible in case of any problem.
