MANAMA: Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Sabah stressed today the importance of security cooperation between GCC countries in face of regional developments.

"We need to be fully alert and at the ready to face the challenge of this period, if we are to avert danger and realize our objectives," he told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) upon his arrival in Bahrain to take part in the 14th Consultative Meeting of Interior Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

"This could only be achieved through bolstering our solidarity and coordination," and the security dossier is a prominent one for us at present. "And we are fully aware of that," the minister noted.

"Our aim is to safeguard the security of the region and the safety of its people and to safeguard development.

This requires great, ceaseless, and wholehearted effort at present and in the near future with support of proper planning." (QNA)
