Al Shaqab, the world-class equestrian facility in Qatar, will offer its Ramadan Camp for the fourth year, giving children ages 3 to 17 the opportunity to participate in various equine-related activities.
The camp, which is organised by Al Shaqab's Equine Education Department, includes four weeklong sessions running from May 27 to June 22, 2017.
The camp will have two different groups, the first for children ages 3 to 5, and the second for those ages 6 to 17.
The first group, which meets from 2:30pm to 5pm, will take part in activities such as arts and crafts, pony rides, horsemanship, and horse games.
The second group, which meets from 9 pm to 11:30 pm, will have daily riding lessons, plus a choice of two supplemental lessons in either basic grooming and feeding, lunge (balance), carriage (drive) or bucking horse.
Both groups meet six days a week throughout the session at Al Shaqab, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
“We are excited to once again offer our Ramadan Camp to give youth the opportunity to learn equestrian skills and become familiar with horses and riding, which are crucial parts of Qatar’s history and heritage,” said Al Shaqab’s Equine Education Manager Mohamed Sultan Al Suwaidi.
To ensure the best experience for the young riders, the number of participants per week will be restricted to 80 places for the first group and 192 places for the second. Cost is QAR 600 per child per week for children ages 3 to 5, and QAR 900 per child per week for children ages 6 to 17.
Parents accompanying their children will have access to a special area with sports activities for themselves, including an indoor walking area, exercise mats, ropes stability exercise balls.
Those interested can obtain further information from www.alshaqab.com.
Since its establishment in 1992, Al Shaqab’s vision was to build on Qatar’s Arabian horse heritage and be a leading global centre for equine professionals while providing an engaging experience for the community.
