DOHA: Qatar will take on El Salvador in an international friendly at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on June 6, the Qatar Football Association announced on Thursday, as Al Annabi continue their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The match forms part of a crucial overseas training camp designed to fine-tune preparations for the global showpiece, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Qatar’s schedule has undergone some changes in recent weeks. High-profile friendlies against Serbia and Argentina, initially planned under the Qatar Football Festival, were cancelled due to regional tensions, prompting adjustments to the team’s pre-tournament programme.
Before facing El Salvador, Qatar are also set to meet Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on May 28 in what is expected to provide a strong competitive test for Julen Lopetegui’s side.
The national team began preparations last month under Lopetegui, focusing on tactical cohesion and squad readiness. Their final training phase is expected to resume following the conclusion of the domestic season, which wraps up with the Amir Cup final on May 9.
At the World Cup, Qatar have been drawn in Group B alongside hosts Canada, Switzerland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European play-off winners.
