Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Sunday that the Palestinian leadership will not accept Israels recently installed metal detectors at the gates of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem, Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported.

He said, "Israel does not have the right to install these metal detectors, because having sovereignty over al-Aqsa Mosque is our Palestinian right. We have therefore taken a decisive and firm stance, especially with regard to security coordination."
"Things will be very difficult. We are not risking the destiny of our people. We only take deliberately examined decisions that we hope to make a result," Abbas added.
On national unity, Abbas said there is a real chance to achieve national unity among all Palestinian factions through the Palestinian National Council and the Palestinian Central Council.
