Doha, Qatar: An Air India Express flight bound to Doha from Calicut International Airport was forced to take a U-turn on Wednesday morning, July 23, due to a technical fault.

Multiple reports indicate that the flight coded IX-375 took off from Calicut at around 9:07am, flew for 2 hours before taking a U-turn above the Arabian Sea and eventually landing back at 11:12am. The flight had 188 passengers on board, including the crew members and pilots.

Several reports quoted airport officials confirming that there was a fault in the cabin air conditioning system of the flight, and it was not an emergency landing. Officials further confirmed that the plane landed safely back at the airport after two hours airborne, and passengers safely deboarded the aircraft.

Officials also stated that an alternative flight was arranged for the passengers, and no injuries or emergencies were reported.
