MANILA: A 23-year-old woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl inside a Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 train in Manila yesterday morning. LRT Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the woman was with her parents and they were on their way to the Jose Fabella Hospital when she suddenly felt labour pains at the Legarda station. The woman gave birth to the girl with the assistance of a nurse, named only as Anna, who was riding the same LRT train. The baby was born as the train was approaching Recto station at around 8.50am.
1 dead, 35 hurt in jeep mishap
TUGUEGARAO CITY: A 51-year-old man was killed while 35 people suffered injuries when a jeepney overturned downhill in the remote village of Lenneng in Kabugao, Apayao last Sunday, according to a belated police report. The jeepney was carrying Lenneng folk to the Kabugao town proper for their weekly marketing when its brakes malfunctioned, causing the accident.
The fatality was identified as Frank Pedrito Cawayan from Agawa, Besao, Mt Province.
