Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) announced Saturday that more than 15,600 people in the Gaza Strip, including 3,800 children, are in urgent need of medical evacuation to receive specialized care.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reiterated this figure in a statement, renewing his call for a ceasefire in the Strip and for unhindered access to humanitarian aid to save lives and provide life-saving medical support.
The Gaza Strip has been under continuous Israeli assault and blockade since October 7, 2023, resulting in 62,622 martyrs and 157,673 injuries to date, most of them women and children.
Many victims remain trapped under the rubble, with emergency and civil defense teams unable to reach them.
