Doha: Qatar General Organisation for Standardisation, Ministry of Environment, is organising the Qatar Construction Specifications conference and exhibition and the launch of QCS 2014 in collaboration with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), on October 26 and 27, 2014.
The conference and exhibition will be held under the patronage of the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani and with the support of the Minister of Environment H E Ahmed Amer Mohamed Al Humaidi.
QCS 2014 is in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, which aims at “transforming Qatar into an advanced country by 2030, capable of sustaining its own development”, and with the Standardization Strategy 2010-2020, which aims to promote commitment to implementing standards and quality in building and construction projects.
At the first edition of QCS in 2000, voluntary standards were developed. Theses specifications were later made mandatory for government projects.
In 2007, QCS rules were made mandatory for all public and private projects in a pioneering initiative in the Middle East. These specifications were further developed in the fourth edition in 2010.
The latest specifications take into account national, regional and international legislation in the field of sustainable building and quality of construction.
