Indian Embassy releases details of scholarship for diaspora children

Doha: The Embassy of India in Qatar has released details about Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children.

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, awards 150 scholarships yearly to children (studying in India) of PIOs/NRIs and Indian workers working in ECR countries, where the parents’ gross monthly income is not more than $4,000. 

Under the Scholarship Schemes, the Government of India would bear 75% of the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum of $4,000, said the Embassy of India in Qatar in a statement.

Under the scheme, the institutions covered are NITs, IITs, Schools of Planning and Architecture; ‘A’ Grade institutions accredited by NAAC and recognised by UGC; Central Universities of India and other institutions covered under the scheme.

Only fresh year students (1st year) shall be eligible to get the scholarship. All eligible candidates may apply for the scholarship accordingly under the Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children scheme.
