DOHA: The Justice and Equality Movement of Sudan has agreed to join the Darfur peace process, following a declaration signed with the Sudan government affirming their commitment to an immediate cessation of hostilities in the war-torn region.
The two parties decided to resume negotiations to achieve a comprehensive settlement of the conflict on the basis of the DDPD and agreed on a time frame to start talks after Eid Al-Adha.
The declaration was issued after a meeting between a delegation from the Sudan government led by Dr Amin Hassan Omer, Minster of State in the Presidency and Head of the Darfur Follow-up Office and a delegation from the Justice and Equality Movement of Sudan led by Mohammad Bashar Ahmed, president of the Interim Military Council which concluded yesterday.
