DOHA: With a surge in outbound passenger traffic expected at the Doha International Airport (DIA) ahead of the Eid Al Adha holidays, passengers have been advised to report at the check-in counters at least three hours before their scheduled departure time. A major rush is expected between October 24 and October 31 and the DIA has advised passengers travelling during this period to abide by the guideline.
The airport is also expecting a rush during the current Haj season. DIA said it will deploy additional resources at the departure lounges to reduce queues to ensure passengers continue to enjoy a pleasant experience at the airport. Passengers are also encouraged to utilise the web check-in facility provided by most airlines, including Qatar Airways. The web-check in service enables passengers to check-in up to 36 hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time.
Check-in can be done at home, office or anywhere through their mobile devices. “While the airport continues to set new benchmarks in passenger growth, the operational efficiency and comfort and convenience of our passengers remains our highest priority. We would also like to wish the entire community a safe and enjoyable Eid Al Adha holiday period,” said Doha International Airport Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker. Meanwhile, the number of passengers at the international airport rose by 13.4 percent over the past nine months, compared to the same period last year, the DIA said yesterday.
A total of 15.8 million passengers used the airport from January to September this year, against the 13.2 million passengers during the same period in 2011. Aircraft movements were also high at a recorded 115,109, a rise of 11.4 percent compared with 100,032 during the same period in 2011. the peninsula
