DOHA: Doha Film Institute is going to hold a ‘Volunteer Open House’ from October 25 to 27, from 11am to 7pm, at Building 33 at Katara.

The Open House will provide film enthusiasts in Qatar with the opportunity to be part of the inaugural Ajyal Youth Film Festival from November 26 to 30.

Interested candidates aged 18 and above can register during the Open House, receive first-hand information about available opportunities and learn workings of an international film festival from the volunteer management team.

Fatma Al Remaihi, Festival Director, said: “The volunteer programme is at the heart of the festival and highlights the city’s multicultural and cosmopolitan outlook for festival visitors from around the world.

“The festival provides volunteers with a unique chance to interact with film experts, industry professionals, international guests and hundreds of young jurors.

“They are helping build a major cultural event that will harness the power of the youth through the medium of film.”

The festival is looking for more than 500 volunteers to help with all aspects of operations. Volunteers will gain industry experience and receive a participation certificate.

The festival builds on the Doha Film Institute’s history of community-based programming.

Ajyal invites generations to come together to discuss cinema through events that inspire creative interaction, opening up a fun, collaborative environment where young people can express themselves.
