DOHA: HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al-Sada underlined that sport is one of the most important environmental awareness channels due to its large popularity.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd GCC Conference on Sports and Environment which kicked off in Doha yesterday.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry said that sport attracts a great number of young people of different age categories, which gives this sector many advantages over other sectors especially in terms of impact on society.
Dr. Al-Sada expressed great pleasure for taking part in the opening of the GCC Conference on Sports and Environment.
And underlined that the Ministry of Energy and Industry has an honor to be among the sponsors of such an important event.
He extended thanks for the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Olympic Committee for the considerable efforts they have exerted to make this conference a success at all levels.
The second edition of the GCC Conference of Sports and Environment opened yesterday evening at the Sheraton Doha Hotel with dozens of high-profile delegates from the region taking part.
The three-day conference is being organised under the patronage of HE Youth and Sports Minister Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al-Ali.
The conference brings together heads of GCC sports and environment committees, the top brass of GCC Olympic Committees, sports federations and clubs.
Police and military sports bodies are also represented at the conference.
A range of important topics will be discussed during the sessions of the conference.
Including a workshop on sports and environment and sustainable sport facilities. (QNA)
