Emir receives phone call from Kuwaiti Emir

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received yesterday a telephone call from the Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. They discussed relations between both countries and matters of mutual concern.

Lebanon president

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of congratulations to Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on his country’s National Day.
The Prime Minister  and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable to the president.
Tunisia FM meets Qatari envoy

Tunis: Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi received yesterday Qatari Ambassador Abdullah Al Humaidi who presented copies of his credentials. Jerandi stressed his keenness to help the envoy carry out his duties.
12,888 needy helped by ministry 

Doha: The Social Security Department at the Ministry of Labour supported 12,888 people this year, according to latest statistics. The ministry revealed that people with special needs, elderly and widows, among others, received monetary support and provided with domestic workers. The beneficiaries included 2,239 elderly, 656 needy families and 351 widows, a local Arab daily reported yesterday. The ministry added new 1,220 new beneficiaries to its social security programme this year. They included 295 disabled people and 208 elderly. Elders with disability or special needs were also provided with domestic workers. The department’s offices in Muraikh, Al Khor and Al Shamal provide support services to more than 12,000 people.
